Where does graphic design fit in?
This week’s presentation:
Primary Graphics Design Projects – http://www.primarygraphics.co.uk Jackie Williams
The presentation was aimed at clarifying where graphic design services, from a full service graphic design consultancy, fit into the overall scheme of things in the present day, where traditional marketing is mixed with, and maybe somewhat overwhelmed by, online, digital and social media influences.
The key to what Primary Graphics provides is project management.
Every job has an open-ended commitment to provide something unique, tailor made, relevant and effective that the client is entirely happy with. It starts with a blank sheet. The first important stage is compiling the brief, which involves a lot of questions, discussions and research. Once a tight brief is established and agreed, the design process can begin.
Briefing and directing designers through development stages, as well as managing client expectations and input, are all part of the process. Having kept the job on track up to signing off artwork, following through to production across all media requires experience and good working relationships with trusted suppliers, trouble shooting and quality control, arriving always at the same conclusion – delivery on time and within budget to a satisfied, happy client (phew).
